UOAF Korea89 theater has come to an end after eight months. We have completed this difficult campaign with a small inventory of available air-frames. There were events where we'd lose too many and others where we'd lose none. Many lessons were learned from all these months of flying. Take a look at the Korea89 Campaign Statistics if you haven't already.
Now for some "Alternate History" timeline of events.
1989 Spring - Cold War turns hot after a series of border skirmishes.
1989 Summer - War in Europe goes Nuclear, limited to tactical use. Kim il Sung Invades South Korea as US forces pull out.
1989 Late Summer - Ceasefire in Europe, both sides devastated by nuclear strikes. Kim il Sung has taken Seoul and advances to the southern coast. US Pacific forces send ground and air-forces into South Korea as a last ditch attempt to hold the peninsula. UOAF multinational wing is sent to the east coast airbases Pohang and Pusan.
1989 Autumn - South Korean ground forces backed by a US lead multinational force retakes Seoul. Kim il Sung in control of a small number of Nuclear weapons is killed in a B-52 raid on Pyongyang. DPRK interim leadership pulls back to the DMZ and request a ceasefire, South Korea accepts.
1992 - Radioactive cleanup begins in Netherlands, Belgium, West Germany, East Germany, and Western Poland. Expected to take decades to complete. Soviet leadership refuses to assist the West in cleanup.
1998 - A short border skirmish between Finish and USSR. Weeks later Finland shifts politically to NATO.
1999 - The Star Wars Prequels come out and their really good.
2000 - USSR commits to a "Slowskrieg" in Yugoslavia using the youth to cause revolt. Using a Maskirovka technique to look like the victims, many Yugoslavians are split on which side to join. A top general successfully coup d'état the government overnight and takes over as a "temporary" military dictatorship until the revolt is subdued. The general begins to lean politically to the USSR.
2002 - Yugoslavia joins the Warsaw Pact.
2004 - The USSR population becomes restless. There is mass starvation while most government funding goes to defense. DDR and Polish governments plead for assistance in nuclear cleanup but get ignored. The Soviet Politburo decides the only real answer to these problems is to take over a weakened NATO. Once NATO is destroyed they can reduce spending on defense and focus on domestic issues.
The War Plan
- Northern Russian forces will invade Finland and move into Norway/Sweden.
- Central PACT forces will invade Croatia and eventually Italy.
- A smaller southern Bulgarian/Romanian force will invade Greece to cutoff and surround Turkey.
For UOAF's Saturday events we will focus on the Balkans to stop a Soviet Yugoslavia from invading Italy.

UOAF Event 301 Details.
Campaign: Balance of Power, Alternate History WW3 Year 2004 edits by Nighthawk.
UOAF Airbase: Aviano, Italy
333rd F-16-52 US Air Force
680th F-16-52 US Air Force
533rd AV-8B+ Harrier 2 USMC
1012nd Rafale C France
CVN71 Roosevelt Squadrons:
15th F/A-18C US Navy
139th EA-18G Growler US Navy
Details on Ground War:
150 Mile FLOT
Victory conditions NATO: Push 160miles to Sarajevo City.
Victory conditions FRY: Invade Slovenia and push 110miles to Italian border
NATO Ground Forces: 240 Battalions(15 NATO Divisions) 11000units
FRY Ground Forces: 400 Battalions(33 Soviet Divisions) 12000units
NATO Air Forces: 500 Aircraft
FRY/PACT Air Forces: 650 Aircraft
Notes: Many NATO battalions are spread out in Italy, while FRY battalions are focused on the Croation border. FRY Ground forces outnumber NATO by 3:1.
To put this into perspective, the ground war in Korea we focused destroying 3-8 battalions along the FLOT. In WW3 Balkans we will focus destroying 20-40 battlalions along the FLOT.
And in the air we were afraid of groups of 10 Mig-23s. Here we will focus on groups of 20 Su-27/Su-35/Mig-31.
We have to utilize the incredible tech we have to destroy overwhelming odds. Rafale C/Typhoons vs Su-35. JSOW/CBU-105/Brimstone/SDB vs waves of ground forces. HARMS/ALARMS/ALCM vs SA-17/SA-10/SA-6 sites.
What to do next?
UOAF 301 will begin on September 9th. Recommend brush-up on Data-link/AMRAAM use. You may also want to practice flying the EF2000/RafaleC/Mirage2000D/TornadoIDS as these will be used with our F-16-52.
