So I was happily editing away making a mission with Fennek's in it when I noticed something strange: The AI 50 cal gunners weren't shooting at it. Then I added a BTR-60 and even that wasn't shooting at it.
So I assumed something was up with the configs and looked into it. Turns out BI gave the strider (aka fennek) 300 armor, the same as the stalker (the futuristic BMP thing) and 40 points more than the RHS M2 Bradley so even the 14.5mm KPVT on the BTR couldn't penetrate it.
So I've made a small addon on bring down it's armor level. Link
Info on fennek armour:
The vehicle is protected all-round against 7.62 mm rounds and additional armour can be added if the mission requires.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any info on how much armor can be added.
Currently I've set the armor to 120, just above the RHS BTR-70/80, meaning it can be penetrated by 50 cal and KPVT, but not infantry weapons.
The windshield glass can be destroyed by about 40 rounds of 5.56mm, this is the same as vanilla, I don't know how to change this and not feeling like learning just yet. It should I think be protected against 7.62mm like the rest of the vehicle.
Questions for you guys:
A) If anyone knows more about fennek armor, please do tell.
B ) Do you want this on the server?
C) Would this conflict with anybodies missions?
D) Are there any other vehicle that need tweaking/fixing?
E) Again if anyone knows about ArmA models / changing armor levels of the windscreen to save me having to learn it all that would be mucho bueno
